Digital Lightwave, Inc., a provider of test equipment and technologies for the telecommunications industry, says that the CSA 4100 module for its NIC Platform will support 40-Gbps/100-Gbps SONET/SDH, OTN and Ethernet testing. Using pluggable CFP modules, the CSA is designed to support testing at:

  • SONET/SDH 40-Gbps (STL-256.4)
  • OTN 43-Gbps (OTL-3.4) and 112-Gbps (OTL-4.10)
  • Ethernet (41 Gbps and 103 Gbps)

For interface testing the CSA also supports unframed BERT testing at all rates and framed PCS BERT for the Ethernet rates, claims Digital Lightwave.

Existing five-slot NIC Plus (portable) and NIC EP (rackmount) units can be upgraded with the CSA module, says Digital Lightwave. Combined with other Digital Lightwave modules, a single NIC can support testing from 1.5M/2.0M to the latest technologies of 100-Gbps/112-Gbps.

Customers who need 10-Gbps and below testing can now purchase a Digital Lightwave NIC and upgrade to 40-Gbps/100-Gbps as needed. Digital Lightwave asserts that the NIC also features license-based "Test Options" that enables users to add test capabilities as needed.
