September 22, 2004 Ottawa, Canada -- Intelligent Photonics Control Corp. announced today the general availability of its OCMc 3000, a compact, intelligent, high-performance controller for optical channel monitors (OCMs). Through a simple user interface, it offers complete control and network reporting for optical power monitor technologies.

Richard Timmons, Photonics Control CEO stated, "The OCMc 3000 is a complete software and hardware solution in a small, single voltage package. Our customers significantly reduce the time, complexity, and cost of integrating their optics into module-level solutions."

According to Adrian O'Donnell, acting president and chief operating officer at MetroPhotonics Inc., "We were able to win business with Tier 1 System integrators by adopting their standard control platform solution, and save significant R&D effort. We reached commercial release of the SurePath Monitor Controller six months sooner than we would have been able to otherwise. Photonics Control really delivered."

Photonics Control has developed a family of products that include controllers for optical amplifiers, variable optical attenuators (VOAs), optical power monitors (OPMs), and dynamic gain equalizers (DGEs). The company is also extending its product line to support reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexers (ROADMs), tunable lasers, integrated photodiode arrays, dispersion compensators, and other applications where optical control and monitoring is needed.
