Sumicity deploys Padtec 100-Gbps DWDM technology in Rio de Janeiro
Brazilian optical transport systems vendor Padtec says it has supplied 100-Gbps DWDM system technology to Sumicity. The services provider will use the systems over a 180-km fiber-optic network that connects the interior to Rio de Janeiro and Guapimirim.
"This new network, which arrives in the interior of Rio de Janeiro, contributes to significantly improve connectivity for the population of Rio de Janeiro, while driving the development of the region," said Vicente Gomes, CEO of Sumicity. "With applications requiring more and more bandwidth and speed, it is necessary to intensify the investments in high-capacity networks, in order to offer the end user the best experience in connectivity."
Padtec provided transponders, modern dual optical amplifiers, and route protection systems to the project. "Sumicity's investments in high-capacity networks reinforce the innovative profile of the provider, which, by investing in DWDM optical systems, collaborates with the advancement of connectivity in these regions by offering telecommunications services comparable to those of large urban centers," says Argemiro Sousa, director of Padtec.
