SEPTEMBER 22, 2006 -- Avanex Corp. (search for Avanex) will show two new products at ECOC. The first is a high-performance 980-nm singlemode pump laser diode product family. The 94SGP PowerDeep submarine pump module also will make its debut.
The PowerIntense family of laser diodes features output powers of 2.5 and 1.4 W at 25 degrees C and 75 degrees C, respectively. These lasers are components in pump modules used in optical amplifiers for metro, long-haul, and submarine communication networks.
The PowerIntense product family is qualified to meet telecommunication industry standards.
Meanwhile, the 94SGP PowerDeep submarine pump module has an operating power of 400 mW, which Avanex says makes it the highest power pump available for submarine applications. It will be available for deployment in repeaters throughout next-generation submerged fiber networks.
The new 94SGP pump module integrates the PowerIntense 980-nm laser chip within proven packaging technology. This combination of high optical power and reliability enables submarine system integrators to design new architectures with an unsurpassed level of dependable power at a lower cost, Avanex claims.
The products can be seen at ECOC in Booth 276.
