8 January 2003 -- HighWave Optical Technologies, Lannion, France, today announced that Fiberhome Telecommunication Technologies Co., the third largest DWDM system manufacturer in China, will be using its latest generation of intelligent amplifiers.
Highwave will supply amplifiers controlled by its new generation of on-board high speed electronics, which provides flexible network capacity, and allows "in service" network reconfiguration.
Under the signed contract, Highwave's amplifiers will be deployed in inter-province long-haul networks covering China's northwest and southwest areas. These products will be integrated in the Fiberhome's 1600Gbit/s all-optical DWDM platform, with the brand name "FONST 1600".
Initially, the network will be operated with 32 channels and will reserve a future upgradability of 160 channels. The contract is worth several hundred thousand US dollars for Highwave.
"This contract confirms our partnership with Fiberhome, a recognised player in the Chinese market, and reinforces our position in Asia, which would represent one third of our turnover next year," said Eric Delevaque, President and CEO.
Fiberhome Telecommunication Technologies Co. is sponsored by the Wuhan Research Institute of Posts and Telecommunications (WRI), the National Engineering Research Center for Fiber-Optic Communication Technologies.
