Mexico’s Axtel completes 400G coherent optics tests with Cisco
Axtel, a Mexican-based service provider, is taking the next step forward with its core network by completing certification tests of Cisco’s coherent optical technology. These tests proved the ability to reach 400 Gbps speeds directly over long distances.
The service provider said that its work with Cisco has enabled it to bring its data network to a new capacity limit. Further, the test approvals represent a simpler network, with less implementation and growth time, under a scheme of automatable networks.
Axtel’s network evolution is aligned with the company's purpose of "promoting the digitalization of Mexico.”
The provider will make 400G capabilities available to two customer segments: national institutions and corporations through its brand Alestra, carriers, operators, and Data Centers through Axnet.
"The new scopes in our network are a watershed in the levels of connection in Mexico, positively impacting the performance of the network of our customers, providing better implementation times and traffic flows of information of greater capacity," said Andres Cordovez, executive director of Infrastructure and IT Axtel.
