Avanex expands tunable platforms for 40 Gbit/sec.

SEPTEMBER 14, 2007 — Avanex Corporation added to its tunable dispersion compensator (TDC) and amplification platforms for 40-Gbit/sec. terminal equipment, releasing the PowerShaper 3300 and 3400 platforms. The products will debut at ECOC, September 17–19 in Berlin, Booth 15100.

SEPTEMBER 14, 2007 — Avanex Corporation added to its tunable dispersion compensator (TDC) and amplification platforms for 40-Gbit/sec. terminal equipment, releasing the PowerShaper 3300 and 3400 platforms. The products will debut at ECOC, September 17–19 in Berlin, Booth 15100.

The 3300 and 3400 platforms provide tunable dispersion compensation and amplification for any C-band channel with reportedly high power stability and signal pass-band fidelity. They are designed to maintain signal integrity over a range of system configurations and modulation formats and overcome losses associated with on-board optics; high-performance power-transient control prevents high-power-level damage.

The 3300 platform is said to be compact and feature simple operation. The TDC module integrates into a 40-Gbit/sec transponder line card. The 3400 platform incorporates a power-transient-controlled EDFA in an integrated amplified TDC module to reduce cost of dispersion compensation and amplification at network terminals.
