The Fiberlink XRD-8000 fiber-optic transceiver is compatible with RS-232, RS-422, RS-485 (two and four wire) and TTL specifications at asynchronous data rates to 1 Mbit/sec. The unit can be used at a single optical wavelength of 850 or 1300 nm or with multimode fiber-optic cable having a core diameter of 50, 62.5 or 100 microns. A 1300-nm version is also available. It incorporates full LED status monitor indicators as well as an external output for fault detection. Applications include card access systems, computer local area networks, cable-TV pan-tilt-zoom control and highway system data transmission.
