Fibre Channel transceiver

The VSC7125 integrated circuit Fibre Channel transceiver reduces power dissipation to 650 mW from the 2.5W required by previous generations of FC transmitter/receiver chipsets. The unit provides a 100-Mbit/sec data rate (1.0625-Gbit/sec baud) rate and requires a +3.3V power supply. It contains a fully integrated phase-locked loop, requires no external controls (lock-to-reference) to lock onto valid serial input data, and extends Fibre Channel transmissions to 10 km using fiber-optic cables. The transceiver is available in JEDEC 64 pin, 10-mm thermally enhanced and 14-mm plastic quad flat pack packages. Pricing is $39 and $37 per unit in quantities of 1000 for the 10-mm and 14-mm plastic models, respectively.
