3 March 2003 -- Anritsu has announced the availability of the new MU120118A 10 Gigabit Ethernet Module, an optional module for the MD1230A Data Quality Analyser mainframe.

It is designed to be an all-around measuring instrument for component design and validation, system development, manufacture and maintenance of IP network equipment for metro-core networking.

With the widespread deployment of ADSL and optical fibre in the MAN, the demand for higher transmission speed is on the increase. Since its standardisation in June 2002, 10 Gigabit Ethernet, which can also be used in the WAN environment, is easily connectable with the existing SDH/SONET network.

The MU120118A was developed to evaluate network equipment with 10 gigabit Ethernet interfaces and the XENPAK module, allowing the MD1230A data quality analyzer to handle interfaces in a 10M10G range, expanding available test capability.

The MU120118A module, which conforms to the IEEE 802.3ae*1 10 Gigabit Ethernet standard, has two 10 Gigabit Ethernet interface ports for signal input/output, to enable cost effective evaluation of network equipment performance.

Using the XENPAK*2 module, the module can also achieve various measurement solutions with minimum equipment investment. XENPAK module performance can also be evaluated using Bit Error Rate measurement functionality.

With the MD1230A it is possible to perform many necessary measurements, including throughput measurement and latency measurement. It can also receive and capture frames at full wire rate, enabling troubleshooting analysis. With this 10GbE module or any other in the product range.

The MD1230A Data Quality Analyser
Available since September June 2002, the Anritsu MD1230A Data Quality Analyzer is a measuring instrument for evaluation and testing of core routers in high-speed backbone IP networks. It is designed to measure the development, manufacture and maintenance of IP transceivers and systems covering the 10Mbit/s - 100Gbit/s range.

Hitherto, claims Anritsu, special measuring instruments have been necessary for measuring IP transceiver load test function and IP network monitoring functions. Integrating these two functions, the MD1230A by itself can complete all measuring requirements, from network performance evaluation to network monitoring.
