Optical module vendor Champion ONE now offers a range of 100-Gbps QSFP28 hot-pluggable optical transceivers. The QSFP28 modules complement the other form factors in Champion ONE’s Passport line of 100G modules, which also includes CFP, CFP2, CXP, and CFP4 optics.

Optical module vendor Champion ONE now offers a range of 100-Gbps QSFP28 hot-pluggable optical transceivers. The QSFP28 modules complement the other form factors in Champion ONE's Passport line of 100G modules, which also includes CFP, CFP2, CXP, and CFP4 optics.

The new 100G QSFP28 transceiver portfolio includes:

  • 100GBASE-SR4 for 70 m (on OM3) and 100m (on OM4) reach with 3.5-W maximum power consumption
  • 100GE CWDM4 for 2-km reach with forward error correction (FEC) at 3.5-W maximum power
  • 100GE CLR4 for 2-km reach without FEC; 3.5-W maximum power
  • 100GBASE-LR4 for 10-km reach with 4.5-W maximum power.

“We work closely with the engineering and technical teams of our customers to co-develop solutions aligned with their network architecture roadmaps and goals. As a result, we concur with the findings of LightCounting and other industry analysts and expect substantial growth in 100G links this year. We've seen especially strong interest among large service provider and data center customers,” says John Jutila, CEO of Champion ONE.

Champion ONE says the QSFP28 transceivers are MSA compliant and meet their respective IEEE 802.3bm and IEEE 802.3ba standards. These transceivers serve as a direct replacement for hot pluggable OEM transceivers and carry a 5-year warranty.
