Amphenol offers 10GBASE-SR multimode SFP+ optical transceiver modules
Amphenol Cables on Demand, the online subsidiary of Amphenol Corp., says it now offers 10-Gbps 10GBASE-SR SFP+ optical transceivers. Amphenol Cables on Demand says it offers these multimode fiber modules starting at $76.95 per device.
Despite the company's success selling copper-based active and passive SFP+ direct attach cable assemblies -- "With millions of Amphenol brand passive copper cables deployed worldwide for SFP+ applications, there's no doubt that copper dominates the majority of the SFP+ interconnect market today," asserts Nick Blas, Cables on Demand product manager – the company acknowledges that optical modules could come in handy in applications that require longer link distances and simplified cable management.
The company says the optical transceivers have undergone intensive OEM-specific compliance testing to ensure they can be used as drop-in replacements for such OEM SFP+ optical modules. They are also fully complaint to the SFP+ MSA per SFF-8431 standards as well as IEEE802.3ae 10GBASE-SW/SR compliant.
The company will supply the optical transceivers with a 3-year warranty.
