OE Solutions, AimValley offer IP OAM Smart SFP transceiver

March 19, 2015
OE Solutions and AimValley have extended their collaboration on Smart SFP optical transceivers with the introduction of the IP OAM Smart SFP. The optical module provides IP layer service monitoring, Layer 2/3/4 service activation testing, and physical layer monitoring via remote DDMI retrieval, the companies say.

OE Solutions and AimValley have extended their collaboration on Smart SFP optical transceivers (see, for example, "Smart SFP first offering from OE Solutions, AimValley collaboration" and "OE Solutions, AimValley intro new Smart SFP optical transceivers") with the introduction of the IP OAM Smart SFP. The optical module provides IP layer service monitoring, Layer 2/3/4 service activation testing, and physical layer monitoring via remote DDMI retrieval, the companies say.

The companies see the IP OAM Smart SFP as useful to help ensure quality of service and fault location in mobile backhaul and enterprise services networks, among other applications. Offering these capabilities in an optical transceiver form factor saves both power and space, OE Solutions and Aim Valley add.

Available in duplex and bi-directional SFP form factors at various reaches, the optical module supports Layer 2/3/4 activation testing according to RFC2544/ Y.1564, loss and delay measurement according to TWAMP, and remote retrieval of DDMI metrics. The device operates over the entire industrial temperature range and has remote DDMI for monitoring functional performance.

The IP OAM Smart SFP is available now. It will be on display at OFC next week at Booth #1655.
