JDSU completes acquisition of Agility Communications

December 1, 2005 San Jose, CA -- JDSU has completed its acquisition of Agility Communications, a provider of widely tunable laser products for optical networks. According to a press release, JDSU paid approximately $67 million for the privately-held Agility, comprising approximately $57 million in stock and $10 million in cash.

According to a press release, JDSU paid approximately $67 million for the privately-held Agility, comprising approximately $57 million in stock and $10 million in cash.

The acquisition, announced in September, expands JDSU's "Agile Network" portfolio. Tunable lasers simplify the deployment of high-speed, metro and long-haul networks, and enable next-generation services. JDSU's network portfolio also includes products such as EDFAs, ROADMs, wavelength blockers, and optical channel monitors.

According to the release, Agility has been selling tunable transmitter and transponder products to customers including Siemens, Marconi, Mahi Networks, Tropic Networks, ECI, and others.
