QuantLR and PacketLight jointly demonstrate a quantum-safe encrypted network

Nov. 15, 2023
The two companies integrate their platforms to target potential quantum computing network opportunities.

QuantLR, a leading provider of quantum communication and quantum key distribution (QKD) solutions, and PacketLight Networks accomplished a quantum-safe encrypted network by integrating the QKD services provided by QuantLR with the OTN encrypted transport provided by PacketLight.

The two companies combined their respective technologies and expertise to enhance quantum-safe communication networks' efficiency, security, and scalability. QuantLR’s QKD harnesses the principles of quantum physics to secure the transmission of sensitive data, resistant to eavesdropping and hacking attempts.

Teams at QuantLR and PacketLight worked closely to integrate their technologies. They validated the compatibility of quantum communication systems with optical networking infrastructure through rigorous testing to ensure optimal performance, stability, and reliability of the integrated solution.

Ease of use was a key focus of the collaboration. Thanks to a strong emphasis on simplicity and scalability, customers can effortlessly establish a QKD network over an existing PacketLight-supported network in under 30 minutes.

This integration and testing project between QuantLR and PacketLight represents a step forward in advancing the field of quantum communication. The collaboration demonstrates the viability of combining quantum solutions with optical networking infrastructure, unlocking new possibilities for secure and efficient data transmission.

Nir Bar-Lev, CEO of QuantLR, said the “project paves the way for new opportunities in quantum communication.”

“The joint solution enables customers to enjoy the highest level of secure communication with the easiest integration and optimal cost-effectiveness for various use cases and network topologies,” particularly in “metro, last mile and other short distance setups."

Koby Reshef, CEO of PacketLight, agreed and added, "The integration of QuantLR's technology with PacketLight’s DWDM/OTN devices opens up new avenues for secure data transmission.”
