FIBERSTAMP unveils 100G ultra-long-distance QSFP28 ER4/ZR4 optical transceiver
FIBERSTAMP of Taiwan has unveiled a pair of 100G long distance optical transceivers. The 100G QSFP28 ER4 and ZR4 optical modules support 5G backhaul and metro data center interconnect (DCI) applications, according to the company.
The 100G QSFP28 ER4/ZR4 modules will support both 100 Gigabit Ethernet and OTU4. The 100G QSFP28 ZR4 can accommodate 60-km reaches without forward error correction (FEC) and up to 90 km with host FEC. The 100G QSFP28 ER4 will support up to 40 km without FEC, although with improved latency and power consumption. Test show the optical transceivers’ power consumption is lower than 6 W at 70℃ and as low as 4.4 W at 25℃.
