Waterfront Communications (New York City) introduced an all-digital service for the switching and transport of high-quality digital video. The service is designed to interconnect area broadcasters, post-production houses, and satellite earth stations through high-bandwidth, noise-immune fiber-optic cable. The service uses the DV6000 video transport system from ADC Telecommunications Inc. (Minneapolis, MN), a 2.4-Gbit/sec universal digital fiber-optic transmission system that encodes signals in an uncompressed digital format to maintain the original quality of the imagery.
