MACOM MAOM-003427 Quad Channel 46-Gbaud Modulator Driver in Surface-Mount Package

MACOM says its high-bandwidth quad-channel surface-mount driver offers high-performance operation at 46 Gbaud with the lower cost structure and smaller form factor of surface-mount packages that have been used at 32G for many years.

MACOM says its high-bandwidth quad-channel surface-mount driver offers high-performance operation at 46 Gbaud with the lower cost structure and smaller form factor of surface-mount packages that have been used at 32G for many years.

The company explains the device is distinguished by its wide bandwidth, low power dissipation, and excellent linearity, which support the implementation of higher-order modulation schemes at baud rates up to 46 Gbaud using lithium niobate optical modulators.

To date, surface-mount packaging has been used extensively in 100G and 200G systems operating at 32 Gbaud, while higher baud rate systems have required more expensive “gold box” style packages, according to MACOM. The MAOM-003427 changes that by offering equivalent performance in a surface-mount package, enabling lower-cost and smaller form factor solutions for long-haul communications.
