Australian broadband network

ADC Telecommunications Inc., Minneapolis, has won a $185 million contract to supply advanced broadband technology to Optus Vision, an Australia-based consortium that is developing a telephony and home entertainment service. The consortium is using ADC`s Homeworx access platform to transport telephone services over its hybrid fiber/coaxial-cable network and broadband connectivity products in the local exchanges to terminate, distribute and crossconnect optical fiber and copper cables.

ADC has also announced that Comcast Corp., Philadelphia, will also use its Homeworx access platform for a trial of integrated video and telephony services that is scheduled to begin in late 1995. The technical trial to approximately 100 customers will run for almost 90 days, followed by a market trial to 1000 customers.
