Balos named VP at ADC Telecommunications
Mehmet Balos has been named vice president for corporate marketing and communications at Minneapolis-based ADC Telecommunications Inc. Joanne Anderson has been appointed vice president for customer service, and John Grubb has been named vice president for competitive access provider, cable-TV and distribution sales. John Eberhart has been appointed director for sales, Bell Atlantic region, and Dennis Maddock has been named director for competitive access provider and cable-TV sales.
Ed Kopakowski has joined Force Inc. in Christiansburg, VA, as vice president for sales and marketing. Responsible for worldwide marketing of the company`s fiber-optic transmission products, he was formerly national sales manager at the Network Systems Group at C-Cor/Comlux Inc. Previous employers include NEC, Sony and Pioneer Electronics.
Vincent C. Corica has been named vice president for sales and service at MCI Business Markets, Atlanta. He is responsible for overseeing sales and service activities to businesses in the southeastern United States. Corica began his MCI career in 1990 as vice president for marketing and consumer sales. Prior to that, he served as area vice president for General Electric Consulting Services. He also held various sales and sales management positions at AT&T.
Janet S. Fender has been elected 1995 Optical Society of America vice president. Fender is division technical director for an imaging technology research group at the Air Force Weapons Laboratory. She leads a technology transition program that will make available for international use a classified optical facility at Mt. Haleakala, HI, which houses a telescope with adaptive optics for atmospheric compensation.
Thomas M. Baer, Milton Chang and Laura Weller-Brophy were elected at-large members of the 1995 Board of Directors. Baer is director for research at Biometric Imaging Inc. where he has conducted research in quantum electronics and developed ultrafast pulsed laser systems. Chang is co-founder of New Focus Inc. He also co-founded Iris Medical Instruments and Euphonix. Weller-Brophy is with 3M Telecom Systems Division, where she develops products for the communications industry. She has conducted research and development work in integrated optics and optical materials.
Gerald J. Butters has been named president of Network Systems North American Region at AT&T Network Systems, Morristown, NJ. He joined AT&T last January. Butters` North American Region serves the telecommunications market, which is expected to grow steadily at more than 10% a year through 2001. It includes local exchange carriers in the United States, Canada and Mexico, and such high-growth markets as cable TV and competitive access providers.
Dan Stanzione has been appointed president of the company`s Global Public Networks, which combines AT&T`s Switching Systems and Transmission Systems business units with network-related portions of its Operations Systems business.
Greg Hughes has been appointed vice president at AT&T Network Systems` Professional Services Offer Business Unit-Program Management. He is responsible for the delivery, installation and program management for Network Systems` groundbreaking agreements with Pacific Bell, Bell Atlantic, Saudi Arabia`s Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, and Southern New England Telephone. He is also responsible for Network Systems` Outside Plant and Network Integration organizations.
Raymond F. Coulombe has joined Fiber Options Inc., Bohemia, NY, as vice president for business development. He most recently served as vice president for sales and marketing at International Fiber Systems Inc., Brookfield, CT. Coulombe was previously director for sales and marketing at 3M Fiber Optic Products Inc.; executive vice president for Eotec Corp., West Haven, CT; and executive vice president for National Guardian Corp., Greenwich, CT.
Larry Price has been named director for all United States sales operations for Naperville, IL-based Amoco Laser Co. He has extensive experience in marketing and selling fiber optics products and services to major telecommunications companies and end users. Price most recently worked as sales manager for Teleport Communications Group, Chicago. Prior to that, he held sales/marketing management positions for IBM and Datasolutions Inc.
Ken Koenig has joined T3plus Networking Inc., Santa Clara, CA, as vice president for engineering. He previously worked at Aspect Telecommunications, where he was director for engineering. Other previous employers include Racal Milgo, Tandem Computers and Intel.
Joy Pinsky is the company`s marketing director. She was previously a consultant and provided market and management consulting to leading networking and high-technology companies. Among her former employers are Network Equipment Technologies, Wyse Technology, Tsunami Technologies and Bell Laboratories.
Michael L. Bowman has been named sales and marketing manager for Aurora Instruments Inc., Blue Bell, PA. He is responsible for sales management, coordination of the field sales network, trade shows, advertising, pricing, demonstration equipment scheduling and marketing. Bowman was previously a product manager at TRW in Redondo Beach, CA, where he gained technical, marketing and management experience in microelectronics, fiber optics, opto-electronic components, microwave hybrids and systems, and monolithic devices.
