Nov. 26, 2001--For quality assurance in high speed data transmission networks, Rohde & Schwarz now offers Advantest's Transmission Analyser D3371, which operates at data rates up to 3.6 Gbits/sec. It is primarily designed for use in research and development as well as in the production of components and systems for SONET/SDH, ATM, Gigabit Ethernet, and Fibre Channel.

For quality assurance in high speed data transmission networks, Rohde & Schwarz now offers Advantest's Transmission Analyser D3371, which operates at data rates up to 3.6 Gbits/sec. It is primarily designed for use in research and development as well as in the production of components and systems for SONET/SDH, ATM, Gigabit Ethernet, and Fibre Channel.

The Transmission Analyser D3371 features minimal jitter and steep clock edges (40 ps). The complementary data output can be flexibly set and has an amplitude resolution of 10 mV and 1 ps in the phase range. The output amplitude range can be optionally extended to 3V.

The transmission analyser provides all the standard measurement functions of a typical bit error rate tester (BERT), claims the company. It offers different evaluation facilities for a variety of test patterns. In addition, test signals for specific frame patterns (SDH, SONET, Gigabit Ethernet) are made available and can be analysed as required. The maximum test data rate of 3.6 Gbits/sec includes the STM-16/OC-48 and Gigabit Ethernet bit rates and provides sufficient overhead for forward error correction (FEC) applications.

The D3371 is based on a PC platform, and data can be transferred using the USB port and the floppy disc drive as well as the GPIB interface and 10Base-T Ethernet.
