Transimpedance amplifier

The ata01504 GaAs automatic-gain-control transimpedance amplifier (tia) provides designers with the capability of using multiple input, output, and VDD connections. In die-bonding configurations, it is only necessary to bond one of the two pads because they are connected on-chip. The amplifier is sold in die form, enabling designers to work in a TO-46 type header. pin-tia manufacturers can optimize performance by assembling the tia and photodiode together inside a TO-header. The device is not limited to TO-header applications. The unit is for use in sonet OC-3 receivers, low-noise RF amplifiers, and other applications, including fddi and Ethernet fiber-lan networks, Fibre Channel at 250 Mbits/sec, and atm at 155 Mbits/sec. The device achieves -38 dBm or better optical sensitivity. It features a 5V power supply and 0-dBm typical optical overload. The amplifier costs $6 in quantities of 10,000.
