July 12, 2005 Minneapolis, MN -- Dakota Central Telecommunications of North Dakota has installed ADC's OmniReach FTTX platform, in a deployment designed to manage the provider's fiber network. The provider, which serves the state's Carrington and Jamestown areas, says the platform will enable it to provide telephone, television and high-speed Internet services to the area's more than 17,000 residents.
"Our FTTX deployment of ADC fiber distribution frames and fiber access terminals has resulted in a tremendously efficient way for us to manage our fiber-optic cable infrastructure. [The platform takes] into account the central office and outside plant environments, providing us with superior performance, a non-obtrusive design, and a robust construction," remarks Paul Berg, chief plant officer at Dakota Central Telecommunications.
The company says its OmniReach fiber distribution frames provide a centralized point for termination, splice, and storage of fiber-optic cable, reducing operational expenses, service outages, and optical congestion. The company says its OmniReach fiber access terminals provide a robust platform for efficiently delivering fiber-optic service drops in FTTX deployments. For both single-family homes, as well as multiple dwelling units, the company says its access terminals provide physical protection, reliability, superior fiber management, and an aesthetically appealing appearance.
"Our OmniReach FTTX solutions are well-suited for Dakota Central's fiber network needs today and into the foreseeable future," concludes Tom Kampf, director of product management for ADC's FTTX business. According to a press release, Dakota Central is also currently completing fiber-optic cabling installation in its coverage areas, and expects to complete the FTTX project by fall of this year.
