Infinera's ICE6 is a high-performance, fifth-generation coherent transponder with a maximum data rate of 800 Gbps per wavelength and 1.6 Tbps per module.
Infinera's ICE6 is a high-performance, fifth-generation coherent transponder with a maximum data rate of 800 Gbps per wavelength and 1.6 Tbps per module. It is designed to continue the evolution of coherent technology in driving down the cost, power consumption, and rack space per Gbps as long-haul and submarine customers experience unprecedented increases in demand.

Judge’s comment: “This product is certainly well engineered, but that alone does not necessarily warrant an innovation award...However, after reading the detailed data sheet, there is sufficient attributes that set it apart (like real world implementation of probabilistic constellation shaping) to warrant a 4.0. And the simultaneous delivery of a real product, with real features, that solve real world problems, using stellar engineering and the latest technology, warrants a 4.5"
