VPIphotonics, Luceda Photonics integrate tools for photonic circuit simulation and layout design
VPIphotonics and Luceda Photonics have teamed to develop the means for automated export of photonic circuit designs from VPIcomponentMaker Photonic Circuits to IPKISS.eda for layout design and mask generation. According to the two companies, the new interface was driven by customer demands in the silicon photonics space and developed with high flexibility and easy customization in mind.
The VPIcomponentMaker Photonic Circuits tool is designed to enable a convenient, accurate, and fast design flow for developing large-scale and heterogeneous photonic integrated circuits consisting of hundreds of passive photonic, active optoelectronic, and electronic elements. It integrates time- and frequency-domain simulation methods and provides efficient automated parameter sweeps, design optimizations, and tolerance/yield analysis, says its developer.
Luceda, meanswhile, says its IPKISS.eda 3.1 for Tanner L-Edit by Mentor Graphics offers the reliability and yield of Python-scripted design in a professional, easy-to-use electronic design automation environment. It provides a framework for the design and design management of integrated photonics chips, including physical and circuit simulations, mask design, fabrication, and design rule check.
