11 October 2002 -- California-based subsystem and module manufacturer Optical Communication Products Inc (OCP) has acquired certain assets of Colorado-based vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL) developer Cielo Communications Inc, including capital equipment, inventory and intellectual property.
OCP has hired about 20 former Cielo staff, who will continue to operate in Broomfield, Colorado. Cielo's technology will enhance OCP's ability to accelerate the integration of 1300nm VCSEL sources into multi-channel optical modules.
"The acquisition of Cielo Communications gives us the opportunity to expand our product portfolio to include optical modules based on 1300nm VCSEL arrays," said Muoi V Tran, CEO and president of OCP.
