May 20, 2005 Hudson, NH -- Laser Components and ULM Photonics have entered into an exclusive distribution agreement for ULM's vertical cavity surface-emitting laser diodes (VCSELs). Under the agreement, the companies will work together to provide custom implementations of the product and technical support for customers in North America.

Available in both chip and array formats, ULM's singlemode VCSELs support wavelengths including 750 nm, 759/760/763 nm, 785 nm, 808 nm, 850 nm, 852 nm, 945 nm, and 980 nm. Packages are available; the company says packaged products may include thermoelectric cooler and thermistor units to allow 2-nm tenability, for specific adjustment of wavelengths.

Potential applications of the products include communications, driving atomic clocks, gas sensing (e.g. oxygen), humidity control, printing, range-finding, lighting, and computer equipment.

ULM says its singlemode laser products offer perfect transversal and longitudinal singlemode behavior, along with outstanding narrow line width and excellent reliability (>50.000 h).
