POET Technologies Inc. (TSXV: PTK; NASDAQ: POET) says it can now deliver alpha samples of its new POET Infinity, a chiplet-based transmitter platform. The optical component developer adds that it already has two lead customers ready to receive such samples.

POET Infinity is designed to enable 400G, 800G, and 1.6T pluggable transceivers and co-packaged optics applications. The company asserts the chiplet is the first such device to implement directly modulated lasers (DMLs) for 100G/lane applications. The chiplet integrates 100G PAM4 DMLs, DML drivers, and an optical multiplexer to deliver what POET asserts is a complete 400GBASE-FR4 transmitter engine on a chip. The chiplet can be daisy chained to enable 800G and 1.6T designs.

The POET Infinity chiplet complements the company’s POET 800G 2xFR4 Receiver optical engine and is the last piece of POET’s 800G chipset for 2xFR4 QSFP-DD or OSFP applications. POET says that both lead customers for the POET Infinity plan to use it for 800G 2xFR4 QSFP-DD and OSFP transceivers. POET says it expects to follow the alpha samples with delivery of beta samples by the fourth quarter 2023. Production should begin by the first half of 2024, POET estimates.
