On December 19, US Conec Ltd. announced that it is entering into a licensing agreement with 3M to bring 3M’s expanded beam optical interconnect technology to the market by manufacturing and supplying products utilizing the technology.
The company reports that the combination of 3M’s optical technology with US Conec’s expertise in high-density connectivity systems, expanded beam optics, and precision manufacturing will provide solutions to the performance and scalability demands of data centers and advanced network architectures.
Kevin Twomey, global portfolio director for 3M’s electronics materials solutions division, reported that the company is excited to partner with US Conec.
“By combining our advanced optical solutions with US Conec’s industry-leading connectivity expertise, we are providing customers with reliable, scalable technologies designed for the future of data infrastructure,” said Twomey in a press release.
Mike Hughes, US Conec vice president of product management, echoed the sentiment, reporting that the company is excited to integrate 3M products into its portfolio.
“This collaboration supports our continued goal of delivering novel high-performance connectivity solutions that address the challenges of next-generation network deployments and meet the needs of our customers,” said Hughes in the same press release.
3M reports that its expanded beam optical interconnect solution is available in single-mode and multimode configurations and utilizes non-contact optical coupling to minimize wear and contamination sensitivity.
