On December 3, HUBER+SCHUNER announced that all its plug-type attenuator solutions will now be packaged in 100 % recyclable, FSC-certified paper. The company reports that the move will result in the replacement of 40,000 plastic bags this year, and as many as one million bags in the future.
The new recyclable paper packaging will be used on the HUBER+SUHNER LC, SC, FC, ST and MU lines of high-performance fiber optic attenuators, and follows a switch to paper bags in the company’s indoor fiber optic cable assemblies made earlier this year.
Lana Ollier, HUBER+SUHNER’s head of global sustainability, said the switch to paper bags is one step in the company’s journey of driving sustainability in operations and products.
“In an industry still reliant on single-use plastic, our initiatives reflect our overall commitment to sustainability to help fulfill our customers’ growing demand for sustainable solutions,” said Ollier in a press release.
HUBER+SUHNER reports that the new packaging is made from premium, dust-free paper, and is designed for quick and easy opening.
