Ekinops releases 100G coherent transponder

Nov. 25, 2024
The cost-optimized solution aims to help service providers meet growing customer capacity demands.

On November 19, Ekinops announced the general availability of its new PM 100HDF01 pluggable module for the Ekinops360 WDM optical transport system.

The PM 100HDF01 is a 100G coherent transponder built on Ekinops 200G FlexRate optical technology that has been cost-optimized for 100G. The company reports that the solution can be quickly deployed in an existing Ekinops network or inserted as an alien wavelength over third-party line systems and can support long-haul applications over thousands of kilometers.

Ekinops chief marketing officer Sylvain Quartier called the PM 100HDF01 a multi-reach solution that can meet the demand for 100G at an attractive cost-point.

“The PM 100HDF01 is designed to address those applications where 10G is not enough capacity but 200G is too much,” said Quartier in a press release.

Ekinops reports that the new solution is compatible with its 10G aggregation modules, allowing service providers to deliver low-speed services over high-speed links.

The PM 100HDF01 is the latest addition to the Ekinops360 portfolio, which added an 800G pluggable module earlier this year.
