OIF launches three new projects during its Q3 2024 Technical and MA&E Committees meeting

Sept. 3, 2024
The forum reports the initiatives will advance networking technologies.

On August 28, the Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF) announced that it has successfully concluded its Q3 ‘24 Technical and MA&E Committees meeting, which occurred August 6-8, 2024, in Ottawa, Canada.

The forum reported that three new projects were initiated during the meeting:

  • Energy Efficient Interfaces (EEI) Compute Optics Interface (COI) for AI scale-up, which will develop high-efficiency, low-latency photonic interfaces.
  • EEI-224G-RTLR, which will aim to develop an Implementation Agreement (IA) for 224G Retimed Tx Linear Rx (RTLR) optical interfaces.
  • Common Electrical I/O (CEI)-448G Framework, which will develop a comprehensive framework for 448G electrical interfaces.

The event also included Physical & Link Layer Working Group meetings.

OIF Technical Committee Chair Karl Bois said in a press release, “Our in-person meetings provide a critical platform for collaboration and progress, allowing us to push the boundaries of innovation and address the evolving needs of the networking and AI/Machine Learning industries.”

OIF’s Q4 2024 Technical and MA&E Committees meeting will be November 4-8, 2024, in Melbourne, Australia.
