Fiber-optic training specialists The Light Brigade have launched an online version of its Fiber to the Home Council’s Certified Fiber to the Home Professional (CFHP) training program. The CFHP offering is the first in what is planned as a series of training courses as part of The Light Brigade’s new Online Fiber Optic Training Program.
The online CFHP training consists of a series of interactive modules and a practice exam. The program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and practical application experience needed to successfully pass the FTTH Council’s CFHP online certification exam.
The CFHP coursework covers the following topics:
- bandwidth and economic issues
- evolution of fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) networks
- basic fiber-optic theory
- FTTH architectures and topologies
- network components
- fiber and cable management
- termination options
- network design
- loss budgeting
- test equipment and test procedures.
“The Light Brigade has a 25-year history of providing outstanding fiber optic training largely in a classroom setting. During development, the goal for our e-learning program was to provide effective and engaging instruction via a different platform. We believe that our CFHP instruction program meets this need while offering a new avenue for training,” commented Dario De Paolis, vice president and general manager.
While The Light Brigade doesn’t portray the online CFHP program as preferable to live, instructor-led training classes, the company does believe it will provide an organized and interactive vehicle for those who can’t attend an in-person training class but still want to successfully pass the CFHP certification exam. This includes remote and international students.
