JUNE 11, 2008 -- CoreOptics Inc. (search for CoreOptics) has announced availability of a 40-Gbit/sec serializer/deserializer chipset.
The chipset is designed to provide a high level of integration while minimizing power dissipation and footprint. In addition, the implementation of adaptive algorithms, embedded micro-controllers, and programmable interfaces translates into "a level of performance and flexibility unrivaled in the industry," according to the company.
"The 40 Gb/s Serializer/Deserializer chipset is a fundamental building block for both the client side and line side interfaces in all DWDM applications for all transponder and discrete implementations," said Dr. Daryl Inniss, vice president of components, Ovum. "By providing this chipset to the wider market, CoreOptics have addressed a major concern of single-source/security of supply for the existing 40G deployments."
The device integrates various pre-coding functionality at low power consumption and reduced form/factor.
