Avago's parallel optic modules deliver up to 75 Gbits/sec

March 28, 2008
FEBRUARY 29, 2008 -- The AFBR-775/785BxxZ 12-channel parallel optic module delivers 5 Gbits/sec per channel for a combined 60 Gbits/sec per link (up to 150 m).

FEBRUARY 29, 2008 -- Avago Technologies' (search for Avago) next-generation parallel optics modules are now available. Avago's AFBR-776/786BxxZ 12-channel parallel optic modules provide 6.25 Gbits/sec per channel for an aggregate of 75 Gbits/sec per link (up to 100 m). The 12-channel devices will include two-wire serial interface monitoring capabilities for expanded per-channel functionality and programmability.

The AFBR-775/785BxxZ 12-channel parallel optic module delivers 5 Gbits/sec per channel for a combined 60 Gbits/sec per link (up to 150 m).

The devices consume less than 53 mW/Gbit and are based on the SNAP12 form factor, which provides signal integrity. With minimal power consumption, the company says its parallel optic modules are suited for applications such as data center, high-performance computing, clustering and terabit routing, and switching applications.

The AFBR-776/786BxxZ and AFBR-775/785 are available now and consist of a transmitter and receiver pair.

Avago is demonstrating the devices at OFC/NFOEC this week in San Diego, CA.
