3M Telecom Systems Division, Austin, TX, has opened a new center to train students in optical-fiber installation and maintenance. A specially designed classroom accommodates 16 students per class for hands-on training in fiber-optic splicing, terminating, connecting and interconnecting products, and test measurement systems and instruments. Approximately 4000 meters of fiber-optic cable are routed between fiber distribution units in nine equipment racks.
