Recent research from Lightcounting revealed that sales of optical transceivers exceeded $3 billion in the second quarter. A significant contributor to this growth is the cloud companies. As cloud providers like Alibaba and Alphabet scale their businesses, the research firm said that demand for Ethernet optical transceivers rose 100% year-over-year, with most of the growth coming from the market for 400G and 800G modules.
