NOVEMBER 27, 2006 -- iNOC, provider of Network Operations Center (NOC) services, today announced that it is deploying the onsite network of the RSNA 2006 (Radiological Society of North America) annual trade show using ADVA Optical Networking's (search for ADVA Optical Networking) Etherjack-enabled FSP 150 products to guarantee service availability to the Ethernet network for show attendees.
RSNA 2006 runs this year from November 26 thru December 1, 2006, at Chicago's McCormick Place. It is the medical industry's largest international meeting with more than 750 vendors and 70,000 attendees, including radiologists, allied health scientists, hospital executives, and healthcare consultants.
iNOC's onsite trade show network, named RSNAnet, will provide premium secure Ethernet services, from 10 Mbits/sec to 1 Gbit/sec, based on a flexible 10-Gigabit Ethernet core. The network allows attendees and exhibitors to check email, view and exchange Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) radiological images, access exhibit information, and surf the web using laptops, tablet PCs, and other handheld devices.
In order to enable all users access when they want, robust quality-of-service (QoS) parameters have been established to manage network use, report iNOC representatives. The service level agreement (SLA) management services are enabled by the implementation of the ADVA FSP 150 (search for FSP 150) portfolio, using the product's Etherjack demarcation and extension functionality to enable monitoring and management of SLA levels. Key parameters that will be monitored and managed via the FSP 150 devices include packet latency, packet jitter, packet loss, and availability. If and when they occur, iNOC's onsite Network Operations Center (NOC) ensures SLA violations are handled appropriately and provides reporting that can be used to support the network users.
"For a network of this size and complexity, it is imperative that we have clear indications of network quality of service at all times," explains Prasad Ravi, CEO of iNOC. "ADVA Optical Networking's Etherjack demarcation features enable us to ensure all users have the network access they need from any part of the trade show floor at any time."
"There is little tolerance for network downtime during an event of this size," adds Brian P. McCann, chief strategy and marketing office at ADVA Optical Networking. "As in any Ethernet-based network, our Etherjack functionality provides the ability to meaningfully track and monitor SLAs and ensure the highest degrees of quality for a high-capacity network that serves thousands."
