Fujitsu 1FINITY T600 blade offers 600-Gbps optical transport

Fujitsu Network Communications, Inc. says its 1FINITY T600 blade has reached commercial availability. The T600 optical transponder blade supports single-wavelength 600-Gbps coherent transmission at 75-GHz wavelength spacing for data center interconnect (DCI) and 5G transport networks. As with other members of the company’s disaggregated 1FINITY family, the T600 is designed to support flexible, automated network operations.

Fujitsu Network Communications, Inc. says its 1FINITY T600 blade has reached commercial availability. The T600 optical transponder blade supports single-wavelength 600-Gbps coherent transmission at 75-GHz wavelength spacing for data center interconnect (DCI) and 5G transport networks. As with other members of the company’s disaggregated 1FINITY family, the T600 is designed to support flexible, automated network operations.

The T600 is programmable to support transmission rates from 200 to 600 Gbps, optimized for the selected application thanks to support of various modes, forward error correction (FEC) approaches, and baud rates, says Fujitsu. It also offers what the company asserts is the highest spectral efficiency available, which enables a single T600 to support transmission of 76.8 Tbps on a single fiber by using both the C- and L-Band. The blade also supports multi-plane protection and physical security. It is designed to meet the FIPS 140-2 cryptographic standard, offering end-to-end Layer 1 OTN encryption, secure management operations and key exchange protocols, and what Fujitsu called special handling of critical security parameters.

The system has open management interfaces and tools to support network automation. Standard interfaces are complemented by newer M2M interfaces such as RESTful APIs, NETCONF, and gNMI (gRPC Network Management Interface). The system also supports YANG models from OpenConfig, Open ROADM, and IETF. Additional related features include zero-touch provisioning (ZTP), streaming telemetry, and LLDP snooping.

“Disaggregated WDM systems such as Fujitsu’s 1FINITY transport product address a fast-growing market need for a stackable form factor that balances capacity and reach within an open environment,” commented Jimmy Yu, vice president, optical transport market research, at Dell’Oro Group, via a Fujitsu press release. “As such, we forecast demand for disaggregated transponder units will grow at a five-year compounded annual growth rate of 27%, driven largely by data center interconnect and the migration to higher wavelength speeds.”

Fujitsu will offer live demonstrations of the 1FINITY T600 in Booth #2539 at OFC 2019 next week in San Diego. The company has highlighted the T600 at previous trade shows, including SCTE Cable-Tec Expo last October.
