MILPITAS, Calif., June 16, 2009 -- JDSU today introduced new features to its widely adopted T-BERD(R)/MTS-6000A platform.

MILPITAS, Calif., June 16, 2009 -- JDSU today introduced new features to its widely adopted T-BERD(R)/MTS-6000A platform, making it the first portable test instrument to include line-rate 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GigE) capture and decode, dual-GigE port packet capture and decode, and packet capture and decode of emulated application layer traffic (TCP, FTP, and HTTP).

JDSU's new 10 GigE capture and decode capabilities reduce the complexity and costs of managing Carrier Ethernet networks. From hundreds of potential impairment events, these capabilities enable network architects, engineers and technicians to quickly identify and resolve the source of service quality issues across multiple network layers, from the premise to the metro network core.

"With packet technologies, the common test approach is to first perform simple packet testing because higher-layer application testing is significantly more complex," said Jim Nerschook, vice president and general manager in JDSU's Communications Test and Measurement business segment. "JDSU's new capture and decode features for the T-BERD/MTS-6000A simplify previously complex tests and troubleshooting processes, making it easier for technicians to understand and share test results associated with these advanced applications. These industry-first innovations are the latest demonstration of JDSU's commitment to building customer confidence in the reliable, cost-effective deployment of Carrier Ethernet networks."

The JDSU T-BERD/MTS-6000A is a compact and lightweight test platform designed for all phases of fiber and transport network installation and maintenance. Modular in design, the T-BERD/MTS-6000A offers an extensive portfolio of test functionality for multiple network layers and the Multi-Services Application module provides an integrated solution for Ethernet, SONET/SDH, and higher-layer tests. Optical Modules allow thorough testing of short-haul, long-haul, FTTx, CWDM, and high speed 40G networks.

JDSU offers a single-source Carrier Ethernet test portfolio that facilitates analysis of all seven layers of Metro Ethernet services. The JDSU portfolio provides the industry's deepest set of test features in an integrated, end-to-end approach to testing Metro Ethernet products and services, including lab and service verification, development and production, installation and maintenance, troubleshooting and overall service assurance. The portfolio offer NEMs and service providers worldwide the confidence to successfully build, deploy, and manage Ethernet and Business Class solutions.
