BTI Systems, Inc., a provider of cloud and metro networking software and optical transport systems, says Interxion (NYSE: INXN) has selected BTI’s cloud networking offering to support its Cloud Connect platform, a new service for enterprise and service provider customers. The initial deployments will be in London, Frankfurt, and Amsterdam, with eight other markets to follow. Additionally, Interxion chose BTI to provide operations and maintenance support.

Interxion, a pan-European provider of cloud and carrier-neutral colocation data center services, supports more than 1,400 customers through 37 data centers across 11 countries.

"As one of Europe’s leading collocation providers, it is vital that we provide our customers with direct, high-performance, low-latency connectivity to the major cloud providers," said Interxion’s vice president, product management and channel development, Mario Galvez. "Our Cloud Connect platform, which we will launch this summer, will enable high-speed connectivity to multiple cloud providers with faster provisioning and the highest levels of security. BTI has provided us with a 'one-stop' approach combining a high-density, software-defined network [SDN] -enabled converged packet optical platform; a software control layer with open APIs to enable customer self-service portals; and a customized technical and support plan. BTI’s cloud networking solution also offers us a clear migration path to high-layer intelligence and 100G capacities."

Collocation providers are increasingly tapping into the massive cloud market opportunity, says BTI Systems. Given the competition, collocation providers such as Interxion have recognized they must provide high-bandwidth, low-latency cloud connections to multiple cloud providers that bypass the public Internet.

"Interxion’s strong growth is reflected in their rapid expansion of data centers across Europe and a robust customer base," said BTI's senior vice president, global marketing, Sally Bament. "By choosing our open, programmable cloud networking solution they have a clear competitive advantage with a network offering maximum scalability, flexibility, and simplicity. One of the features supported through our Cloud Networking Solution is Interxion’s customer self-service portal, which sets up cloud connections and adjusts bandwidth to satisfy customer demands and application requirements. We are pleased that Interxion additionally chose BTI to operate and to help support their Cloud Connect platform, a trust we take seriously and will ensure the highest performance and reliability they demand and deserve."

BTI's software and hardware manifest for Interxion includes BTI’s SDN-enabled packet-optical transport platform (P-OTP) as well as the BTI proNX control software and SLA portal. Coincidentally, BTI introduced the technology Interxion will use as "Intelligent Cloud Connect" (see "Intelligent Cloud Connect from BTI Systems targets SDN-enabled cloud services"). Meanwhile, its ServiceLink Services offer Interxion the opportunity to outsource the management of the Cloud Connect platform.
