ZTE Corp. (H share stock code: 0763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ) says it has won more than 60% of the contracts China Mobile has awarded this year as part of a group tender for 100G Optical Transport Network (OTN) equipment. The Chinese systems house earned China Mobile’s business in competition with Huawei, Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell, and Fiberhome, it asserts.
The group tender addresses China Mobile’s requirement to deploy 100G OTN networks in all provinces to support the roll out of LTE. The carrier took the matter seriously, according to ZTE. Before the tender, China Mobile commissioned “special laboratories” to test each vendor’s OTN platforms. The Chinese service provider then whittled the competition to a pair of companies before choosing ZTE’s offering, including the ZXONE 8000 platform, for the lion’s share of the deployments. ZTE did not reveal the identity of the other finalist.
ZTE says the ZXONE 8000 features a range of cross-connection capacity options, from 0.8 Tbsps to 9.4 Tbps and supports non-blocking multi-granularity grooming of ODU0/1/2/2e/3/4/flex traffic. It can be deployed in a variety of optical transport applications from national and provincial backbone networks to metro core and aggregation fiber-optic networks, the company adds.
