8 January 2003 -- UK Ethernet service provider Neos' NeosIPTransit service has been added to the portfolio of IP transit offerings available in metro area interconnect provider XchangePoint's Transit Marketplace.

Transit Marketplace enables consumers of IP Transit to access multiple IP Transit vendors from a single physical connection to the XchangePoint network. It allows them to make well informed choices about transit provision based not just on price but also on factors such as quality and time to provision. These customers can also simultaneously use their connection to the XchangePoint network for both public and private peering.

The addition of Neos will mean that the variety of differentiated traffic will be increased, benefiting those who purchase interconnect services from XchangePoint.

The NeosIPTransit service provides the benefits of high-performance, reliable and cost-effective access to the backbone of the Internet. The SLA guarantees latency of under 30ms intra-Europe, 40ms trans-Atlantic and 40ms intra-US, packet loss of less than 1%, and 100% availability.

Neos CEO John Wheeler said: "The addition of Neos' IP Transit service into XchangePoint's Marketplace offers XchangePoint customers the benefit of a low-latency access to content providers and ISPs in the US and throughout Europe. "

Delivered over Neos' Optical Ethernet network, the NeosIPTransit service provides customers with a layer 2 connection to Level 3's Tier 1 IP backbone network, one of only seven Tier 1 IP backbones, with 175 peering relationships and direct access to 40% of the world's leading web sites.

"Our partnership with Neos means we are able to offer our Transit Marketplace customers even more choice and flexibility" said Annette Nabavi, CEO, XchangePoint. "Furthermore, the Neos National Ethernet service provides the ideal solution for connecting customers anywhere in the UK to the XchangePoint network."
