CTS Telecom upgrades Carrier Ethernet network with BTI Systems
CTS Telecom has upgraded its Carrier Ethernet network with packet-optical transport platforms from BTI Systems, the systems house says. The Michigan-based service provider had been using PON systems, according to BTI.
The operator serves more than 2,000 business and residential customers in Western Michigan and sought to upgrade its network to a full-fledged packet optical transport infrastructure. BTI Systems has supplied several elements from its optical transport portfolio, including the BTI 7000 Series packet optical platforms, the BTI 800/700 Series Ethernet access platforms, and the BTI proNX Control Software and associated applications. CTS has been using equipment from BTI Systems for several years (see "BTI unveils Ethernet switching module, access platform").
CTS Telecom is now in better position to provide a range of services, including Ethernet-to-the cloud, Ethernet network services, high-speed optical wavelength services, and private fiber-optic networks. On the business side, the service provider will target customers in the corporate, healthcare, education, and government sectors.
"We have broadly deployed high-bandwidth 1 Gigabit Ethernet and 10 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity services to enterprise, healthcare, education and government sites," said CTS President Stacey Hamlin. "We chose BTI's Ethernet Business Services solution to enable higher bandwidth rates and rapid scaling of our network as well as the service differentiation that our customers demand. Importantly, by transitioning our infrastructure, we're also able to extend our service offerings to include next-generation Ethernet-to-the-cloud connectivity."
