FiberNet to provide Internap with metro Ethernet services
December 6, 2005 New York, NY -- FiberNet Telecom Group has been selected by Internap to provide low-latency metro Ethernet transport services in the New York, New Jersey, and Los Angeles markets. Under terms of an agreement, Internap, a provider of intelligent route-control platforms, will employ FiberNet's long haul and metro end- to-end network infrastructure.
According to a press release, FiberNet met Internap's requirements for a fully-redundant data service that would support its business-critical applications with highly scalable metro Ethernet services. FiberNet says its Metro Ethernet transport service provides rapid and reliable access to bandwidth, contributing toward Internap's goal of bringing reliability, performance, and security to its Internet-based applications.
"The service provided by FiberNet not only reaffirms their vast knowledge of the metropolitan Ethernet market, but also their ability to use that knowledge to provide our customers the best solutions possible," comments Jim DeBlasio, president and CEO of Internap. "Whenever we can strengthen Internap's access solutions, it improves our customers' ability to maintain a competitive advantage and creates a win-win situation for everyone."
FiberNet's metro Ethernet services for Internap will include both switched and dedicated forms of Ethernet connections. FiberNet says that via its Ethernet network, VLAN virtual circuits can be configured from a single port to create point-to-point or multipoint-to-multipoint connections for hub, VLAN, or VPN networks.
"We are excited about this opportunity to add value to Internap's business and quality of service," concludes Jon A. DeLuca, president and CEO of FiberNet. "FiberNet's custom-designed solutions combined with technical expertise and highly responsive teams will enhance Internap's business continuity, and sustain the competitive edge they have established in the industry."
