ADVA (FSE: ADV) has unveiled the FSP 150-XJ128, which the company touts as the first 25-Gbps Layer 2 demarcation device. The unit is designed to provide a middle ground when 10G demarc isn’t enough but coherent 100G is too much.
In addition to business services support, the company sees 5G support and cable MSO DOCSIS 4.0 initiatives as natural applications for the FSP 150-XJ128. “Our FSP 150-XJ128 is the technology that businesses have been calling for. It empowers them to take the natural next step with zero hassle and without unnecessary expense. For many enterprises, trying to manage rapidly rising bandwidth needs using 10-Gbps demarcation devices has become a real headache. Yet it doesn’t make economic sense to overhaul their entire system and go all the way to 100 Gbps. What we’re providing is the ideal steppingstone for secure business growth,” commented Christoph Glingener, CTO, ADVA. “Until today, there was no middle ground. Now, businesses can slot our FSP 150-XJ128 into their existing network infrastructure and seize new revenue opportunities.”
The FSP 150-XJ128 supports 25-Gbps Ethernet services and offers OAM capabilities. The device features fanless operation and an extended temperature range that obviates the need for air-conditioning. Hardware-assisted synchronization features enable the unit to meet stringent timing requirements. The system can be managed by ADVA’s Ensemble Controller and Ensemble Packet Director as well.
