Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp. (NTT) has announced several initiatives aimed at making the company more competitive and profitable by creating new ways to serve clients and society. According to NTT, the transformation is a result of evolving capabilities of NTT Group – NTT Communications, Dimension Data, NTT DATA, NTT Innovation Institute and NTT Security – which has achieved collective revenues of $20 billion to date outside of Japan.

As a result, NTT plans to establish a new global holding company by third quarter of fiscal 2019 called NTT Inc. with operating revenue of approximately $38 billion. The new structure will leverage diverse talents, skills and management experience in global markets and consider integrating these businesses, except NTT DATA, into two new businesses. NTT DATA will continue collaboration with other companies in the group while retaining its present management structure.

Further, NTT will create a new global innovation fund, NTT Venture Capital LP, to activate investment in high-growth areas, such as digital technology. The company also plans to intensify its research and development activities in global markets through a network of experts from advanced academic research institutions and venture capital communities around the world.
