ADVA Optical Networking claims pair of 400-Gbps deployments for FSP 3000 CloudConnect data center interconnect platform
ADVA Optical Networking today has revealed the names of two customers who will deploy the company's FSP 3000 CloudConnect data center interconnect platform to enable 400-Gbps optical transmission. Both the Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center (PSNC) and Netnod, a Norwegian internet exchange operator, will leverage the system's QuadFlex 400-Gbps coherent transmission.
QuadFlex enables the transmission of a pair of 200-Gbps carriers within a superchannel based on 16QAM modulation.
PSNC operates Poland's PIONIER research and education network and is a longstanding ADVA customer (see, for example, "PSNC deploys ADVA 100G FSP 3000 in PIONIER research and education network"). ADVA says the FSP 3000 CloudConnect is supporting 96 channels over 385 km without the need for regeneration.
"This new solution is our response to soaring demand from Poland's research and education community. Access to high-capacity applications and ultra-fast data transport has become essential for universities and research institutes. The ADVA FSP 3000 CloudConnect enables us to answer that fierce demand. It delivers the enormous capacity that the scientific community increasingly relies on while optimizing space and power consumption," said Maciej Stroinski, technical director, PSNC. "The giant leap in capacity opens up so many more possibilities. We can now provide almost unlimited access to our world-class IT resources, facilitating computational-based research into everything from climate modeling to space exploration. What's more, we now have the power to seamlessly scale our network to accommodate the needs of tomorrow."
In Norway, Netrod will use the FSP 3000 CloudConnect with QuadFlex to support its new Optical IX service alongside ADVA's ROADMs and FSP Network Hypervisor. The service is designed to provide customers to configure connectivity options themselves, including interconnect across the optical, physical or data link network layer. Customers also can select single ports or fully redundant options.
"ADVA Optical Networking's DCI technology will enable Netnod to offer industry-leading optical IX services. With a scalable platform built to accommodate significant increases in capacity, Netnod can offer customers more choice of how they connect and exchange traffic," said Lars Michael Jogbäck, CEO, Netnod. "Together with ADVA Optical Networking, Netnod is taking network automation to the next level. By offering a flexible, future-proof infrastructure with software-defined networking in the optical layer, Netnod will continue to be the number one choice for access to the highly interconnected Nordic region, as well as the crucial Russian and Baltic markets."
