Hibernia Media, a division of Hibernia Atlantic, says it has entered a strategic relationship with European network services provider Colt to connect their European and US broadcast networks globally. Colt has selected Hibernia Media’s platform to deliver managed broadcast services from its customers in Europe into the US as part of the agreement, according to Hibernia Media.

The agreement aims to meet the needs of broadcasters who require greater access to media content from more worldwide markets. Hibernia Media says it is already connected to key US television networks, news and sports venues, and broadcast studios, while Colt is connected to more than 150 venues across Europe.

The relationship will also leverage Hibernia Media’s Television Operations Center (TOC), which provides real-time management of live sporting events and news feeds.

“This is a market changer for the broadcast industry,” asserts Mark Webb, Colt’s head of business development for media. “The agreement will provide unmatched connectivity options for US and European media companies, helping broadcasters meet the increasing industry demand for high-quality content. The partnership will allow for a full complement of video transmission services, including HD and 3D delivery, for both full-time and event-based services.”

“Together Hibernia Media and Colt will create a powerful one-stop shop for delivering broadcast content from 250+ venues across the two continents via our extensive fiber networks. This geographic expansion of on-net sites, along with our experience in managing major news and sports events and high-quality delivery of programming, provides real value to Colt’s and Hibernia Media’s clients,” adds Desmond Gallahue, senior vice president of global sales for Hibernia Media.

The service will be available to customers beginning May 15, 2012.
