SEPTEMBER 18, 2008 -- u²t Photonics AG has announced its next-generation 40G receiver platform following the XLMD MSA footprint.
The new MPRV series will offer a family of very compact 40G receivers for OOK keying transmission in both very short reach and long reach applications. The product enables onboard mounting and direct attaching of the device to the CDR/demux circuitry and incorporates u²t's wave-guided pin diode together with a limiting amplifier supporting both optical windows at 1310 and 1550 nm.
The new series of receivers will offer products with various specifications supporting the requirements from multiple applications and designs of transponder and system manufacturers, the company says. The MPRV1332 is the first product.
"This new product has been developed at the right time following the XLMD MSA", said Jens Fiedler, vice president sales and marketing at u²t, "and is not only supporting currently ongoing design activities of transponder manufacturers towards small form factor devices but is also supporting the standardization activities towards a cost competitive 40GbE serial approach."
u²t announced the availability of prototypes of its new product platform starting in September this year. The MPRV series is targeted to be ready for volume production in the first half of 2009 and addresses especially the low cost and high volume very short reach (VSR) market.
